Think of this as the fuel for your community. Activation is what helps take your community off the ground. Activation is the process of breaking through the atmosphere with effective engagement tactics and strategies until the it reaches the orbit - the realm of organic growth.

Contrary to how abvious the term itself makes it seem, the process of doing so is anything but. There’s no ‘one-size-fits-all’ approach to activating a community, but there are certain things you can do to encourage and improve participation.

Here are a few things you can try to include in your activation strategy:

  • Define your vision, purpose, and culture **early on so that you can filter out the irrelevant crowd. It’s better to have 10 people who believe in your community than have 100 who don’t.
  • Understand your community, learn about what they want, figure out how you can help them in the best way possible.
  • Have more 1-on-1 interactions with the members to let them know you’re there for them, while also adding a touch of personalization.
  • Ask more questions yourself. Reply and react to every piece of information. Share relevant resources. You have to lead by example; do yourself what you expect others to do.
  • Be yourself; be authentic. Don’t force anything.

The beginning is the heavy lifting. You have to scream and put yourself out there. Sometimes you hear your own echo because at times it feels like you’re screaming into the void. - Anamaria Dorgo (Threado Community Hour Ep 2)
