Profile

A profile displays brief information about a member of the community. It’s a good way to take a glimpse of who the member is. A profile most generally includes -

Name and a picture.
A short bio about the member, some of their interests, expertise, profession, and hobbies.
Social media accounts.
Personal website (if any).
Contact info (if any).

A profile comes in handy when you want to connect or network with another member who is most probably a stranger. It can help you filter people who are more inclined to your personality or interests, therefore making them more approachable.

Highlighting the contributions of a member in a community is referred to as the member spotlight. The purpose or aim of this is to show appreciation for those members who have been consistent or have done something outstanding for the community.

A direct Message or casually referred to as a DM is a message you send to a community member’s personal inbox. DM is also used casually to tell someone you will be messaging them or have messaged them personally.
