Lead by example. Don’t ‘ask’ anyone to do anything, because unlike hierarchies within organizations, a community is a group of people who are there by choice. And that choice is almost entirely influenced by value. Initiate discussions yourself, host events, share and curate content - be who you would want someone else to be in a community.
In 2018, I took a Udacity course in front-end web development and found the community managers to be stellar advocates who were really motivating. I was looking to break into tech, and got inspired and started applying for community-type jobs as a result.
