Back to this week’s newsletter with a case study on Appsmith’s community approach and updates from the world of community 🙂👇

🤝 Appsmith - the story about how a super-involved community is helping shape a product developers love

"I had about 200-300 guests attending my wedding. Our goal was let's launch the product at my wedding so that we get at least a few hundred downloads." - Abhishek Nayak

Appsmith is the story of persistence. Learnings from multiple failures and passion for shipping products - this startup rollercoaster is as exciting as it can get.

Appsmith was founded in mid-2019 and its open source software has been downloaded over 5 million times with users at over 1,000 enterprises in 100-plus countries. Appsmith is the open-source framework that lets your team build custom internal applications like dashboards, admin panels, CRUD apps faster, and together.

For a use case like that of Appsmith, it was vital to be engaged with the developers (users of the product) who were using their open-source platform to build internal tools - to get their feedback and learn from them on how they could improvise their product.

What’s a Rich Text element?

The rich text element allows you to create and format headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, images, and video all in one place instead of having to add and format them individually. Just double-click and easily create content.

Static and dynamic content editing

A rich text element can be used with static or dynamic content. For static content, just drop it into any page and begin editing. For dynamic content, add a rich text field to any collection and then connect a rich text element to that field in the settings panel. Voila!

How to customize formatting for each rich text

Headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, figures, images, and figure captions can all be styled after a class is added to the rich text element using the "When inside of" nested selector system.
